The S&P 500 Index is a broad-based, unmanaged measurement of changes in stock market conditions based on the average of 500 widely held common stocks. The Dow Jones Industrial Average consists of 30 stocks that are considered to be major factors in their industries and that are widely held by individuals and institutional investors. VIX is the ticker symbol for the Chicago Board Options Exchange Volatility Index, a popular measure of the implied volatility of S&P 500 index options. One cannot invest directly in an index.

Price-to-earnings ratio is the value of a company’s stock price relative to company earnings. Price to cash flow is the ratio of a stock’s latest closing price divided by cash flow per share for the past 12 months. Price to book ratio is the ratio of a stock’s latest closing price divided by its book value per share. Book value is the total assets of a company minus total liabilities. Price to sales is the ratio of a stock’s latest closing price divided by revenue per share. Revenue per share is determined by dividing revenue for the past 12 months by the number of shares outstanding. Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) is a security that sells like a stock on the major exchanges and invests in real estate directly, either through properties or mortgages. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is defined as the total market value of all final goods and services produced within the country in a given period of time (usually a calendar year). Basis Points is calculated as 100 basis points = 1%
